École des Roches is growing
Investing in the future
GEMS Education has made a major investment in the school for renovation and development, which will see the school move into an exciting new era in the story of our long and proud history of 119 years.
The work will include renovation of boarding houses, creation of teaching and sporting facilities, as well as general ground works and improvements.
The first phase of work was completed in the summer 2016 with refurbishment of 5 of our boarding houses.
The second phase of grounds and facilities work will include :
- Building a new restaurant (September 2018)
- Building a new academic block (September 2020)
- Building a new sports center (September 2020)
The entire campus now has high speed Wi-Fi, offering a 200Mb/s connection speed, as well as campus wide hotspots, offering our students optimal internet connection.
International Baccalaureate in English
École des Roches has been recognised as an IB world school since the 11th of June 2016 and it is authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate diploma program in French and other languages. The pupil may attend courses only in French, English or both languages in order to get a bilingual diploma.
From September 2018, École des Roches will offer the International Baccalaureate in English, with new subjects such as World Politics, World Religions, Psychology or Science of Sport, Exercise and Health.
New staff appointments
New international teachers will strengthen the ranks of our school during the next academic year, with their multiple expertise at the service of our students. A second University Orientation Advisor will also be on the team as of September the 1st, 2018.
The RELAIS Programme (Responsibility, Environment, Leadership, Affirmation discovery recognition, International, Service) is a structured, student-centred learning program designed to enrich the self-knowledge and skills that Rocheux' students will need in their lives. Closely linked to the strategic issues of the school, the programme is structured around major themes such as culture, outdoor activities, democracy and expression.
This program will result in the compulsory participation of all middle and high school students. Efforts, individual and collective excellence will be recognised in the school's reward system. The results obtained by the students will complete their student file and will constitute an element in the exit classification that the school wishes to institute next year.
“I've been at École des Roches since primary school. What my parents liked about it was the boarding school. The school has been evolving and improving each year since I’ve been here.”
