Dear Parents,

As we arrive at the half term break, it is good to pause, take stock and reflect on all that has been accomplished over the past two months. Since the end of August, we have welcomed back our students, despite the ongoing difficulties with the pandemic, and the teachers have been working hard to... [read more]

Dear Parents,

Yesterday morning I was informed that one of our adult staff members had received a positive Covid test result.
A week ago, due to not feeling well, he had already gone on medical leave and quarantined himself off campus. As soon as we received the news of the positive test, we informed the Agence régionale de santé (ARS), with which there is a strict health protocol that we must follow, isolating any students and members of staff who may have been in contact with him. In this case, I am pleased to say that... [read more]

Dear Ecole des Roches Parents,

After over 5 months without students, we have now returned to full activity, having welcomed back the students at the beginning of the week.

During the confinement it felt very odd to have total silence on campus and to see deer and foxes meandering across the school lawns in the middle of the day, but it is much better to hear the chatter of the students and see them out on the playing fields... [read more]

Dear Parents,

Over the past few weeks we have continued here at EDR with the ongoing preparations for welcoming your children for the return to school.

In the midst of these preparations, we have also once again had the pleasure of welcoming “Les Petites Mains Symphoniques,” the music camp for children from all over France who come to practice and then perform in concerts throughout Normandy during the second half of August... [read more]

Dear Parents,

I hope that the summer holidays have started well for you and your children.

It was a pleasure to see many of our students returning during the last few weeks of term to recuperate their belongings here at school or to pick up copies of their bac results. I would like to congratulate all of our students on the dedication and hard work that they demonstrated throughout the final three months of school. It has not been easy to end the school year with all of the classes taking place online and... [read more]

Dear EDR Parents,

Many of you will have listened to President Emmanuel Macron’s speech yesterday evening, in which he announced the next steps in reducing the sanitary restrictions and returning the country to normal working conditions.

A very important aspect of this for EDR and our students is the opening up of the borders and the easing of the restrictions on travel, with movement being generally permitted now throughout Europe... [read more]

Dear EDR Parents,

I hope that the process of deconfinement is going well for you and your families, and that you have been able to begin to return to a bit of “normality” in your daily life and routines.

At school we have been reviewing the sanitary guidelines that the ministry of education has stipulated for schools, and we are working on adopting these and reviewing how we can apply them in our own context for when the school reopens. Our protocols will cover issues such as required PPE equipment... [read more]

Dear EDR Parents,

I hope that all of you are doing well, despite the lengthy confinement that will hopefully be ending soon.

We are in unprecedented times, dealing with a challenge the likes of which we have never seen before and, we hope, will never see again. This past week the Senior Leadership Team of EDR met to discuss whether or not, and when, the school should reopen in May or June. Many of you will be following the French government’s updates regarding the staggered optional return to school, beginning with the CP and CM2, next week... [read more]

Dear EDR Parents,

I hope that the ongoing confinement is going well for you and your children.

Here at school we have been discussing the different measures necessary for an eventual reopening of the school, in accordance with the ministry of education’s instructions. Unfortunately, there is little in the way yet of official guidelines regarding how schools should manage the reopening. What we do know is... [read more]

Dear EDR Parents,

With the third week of online learning that begins, it is time to take stock of how things are going, as well as look ahead to the future. The following are some of the key points that have been addressed, as well as those on which we are currently working:

• Online tools: after a few teething problems at the beginning of last week, primarily due to Internet and server overload... [read more]

Dear EDR Parents,

The end of this past week saw a flurry of activity as the whole school mobilized in preparation for the closure of schools that was announced by Macron on Thursday evening.

I would especially like to thank Yann Salle and the team of Chefs de Maison, as well as Claire Mercier, who worked tirelessly to ensure that students were able to leave on time and catch their flights home... [read more]
