IB structure

What is the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) structure at École des Roches?

“The IBDP is a rewarding academic programme allowing students to engage with people in an increasingly globalized, rapidly changing world.”

Each IBDP student chooses three subjects at Higher Level and three subjects at Standard Level from the six IB subject groups (see below).

Students can expand their IB curriculum choices through sponsored online IB courses in a wide variety of subjects, for instance Economics, Film or Psychology.

In addition to the six subject choices, every IBDP student completes three core components specifically designed to develop critical thinking, extended research and writing skills, and their understanding of the world as it is now.

  •  The Extended Essay is a 4000-word essay based on independent research, which prepares the student well for university
  • Theory of Knowledge encourages the students to ask: ‘How do we know what we know?’ and become independent thinkers.
  • In Creativity, Activity & Service students complete a wide variety of extracurricular, community service and athletic options.

The essay writing structure that we used for our Internal Assessments and Extended Essay now makes it easier to write academic essays at university.
